Well we have made it. All a teeny bit tired and emotional but elated too. The children were FAB. They really rocked it. Staying away from home is a huge deal but my goodness they all smashed it. To acknowledge that you are missing home but also having a great time is a massive learning experience. Friendships were strengthened this week and I hope some lovely memories were made too.
A big thank you to Karen for leading this adventure. Thank you Hilary for your 7th (and final) residential. Special mentions to the two lovely night nurses, Ina and Sue, also Angie, Tracey, Alex, Katie, Matt, Eva and Emma. Big hugs to all the Shepherds Down staff who gave up their evenings to come down after school to entertain and shower the troops. You don’t know how welcome your support was. (unless you too have done previous residentials).
Until next year………..!
We had three absolutely fabulous Doves with us who need a special mention. Ina (their night nurse) has made this special celebration video to mark the occasion. I really enjoyed getting to know these three remarkable young men.
A big shout out to Matt, Emma and Eva who were amazing during the day in their never ending care and devotion to the Doves.
Wow what a great day. We didn’t think it could get any better than yesterday but your children have been amazing. We have walked miles and played on every structure along the play trail at Moors Valley.
Thank you for lending us your children for a few days. They are all enjoying it here but looking forward to coming home almost as much as the McDonald’s we have just consumed.
What a great first day. Getting used to our surroundings. The sensory garden, playground and face painting. Everyone was very hungry after a full day and many went back for seconds of pasta and garlic bread.
